Chocolates

Our annual chocolate dipping party. Jason's cousins Carol and Christie dipped chocolates while Jason rolled the cherries in fondant. I just sat and watched and ate as many chocolates as I could.

6 1/2 weeks old

Brigham is now 6 1/2 weeks old, he weighs 7 pounds 5 ounces and is 20 inches long. He has gained three pounds since he came home. He has decided to wake up every two hours at night, he is always hungry. He also doesn't like to sleep in his bed because he wants someone to hold him 24/7. He has grown so much, I can't believe it.

Sleep

Last night Brigham slept continuously for four hours, so I only had to wake up once during the night. I fed him at 11 pm and then he slept until 3 am and didn't wake up until 7 am. I woke up feeling so refreshed, I didn't think that would happen for a long time. I hope he continuous to sleep for long periods of time, but I doubt that will happen.

Brigham is home!!!

Brigham got to come home today. The doctor called us on Saturday morning and said that he would be able to come home Sunday or Monday depending on how well he took his feedings that day. He did really well and they took the feeding tube out and now he is home. It seems really weird, no more long drives to the hospital or holding him with a bunch of wires connected to him. It is kind of scary because he is so small, he weighs four pounds six ounces. Since he was under five pounds he had to ride in the car bed, which is a car seat for a baby. It looks like a bed so Brigham got to lay down the whole way home. We are so excited he is home but I know I am going to be so worried for the next couple of days that I probably won't get much sleep, oh well I am glad he is home. Thanks for everyone's prayers, they were much appreciated.

Eating

Brigham now weighs about 4 pounds 2 ounces. Currently I go to the hospital and feed him twice a day, every twelve hours, and the rest of the time he is fed through a tube in his nose. He hasn't fully developed the technique of eating which involves sucking, swallowing, and breathing. He is getting better and once is able to eat without the tube he will be able to come home. I hope that time comes sooner rather than later.

Pictures of Brigham

On Saturday they took Brigham out of the isolette because he is able to maintain his own body temperature. When he was in his box we were only able to hold him once a day but now we can hold him whenever we go and see him and he gets to wear clothes. He is still a little big for his premie clothes. He is doing well and gained an ounce so now he weighs three pounds and eleven ounces.

Brigham had jaundice and had to stay under the bili-lights for two days and wear the funny looking googles. He pulled the googles off every chance he could, he didn't like them covering his eyes.

Brigham Howard Egan

Brigham Howard Egan was born November 3, 2008 at 9:07 pm. He weighed three pounds and 10 ounces and was seventeen inches long. He didn't want to wait until December 21st and came a little early. Before he was born the nurses from the NICU came and talked to us and told us all the possiblities that could happen. It was really scary but he was healthy when he was born and didn't need oxygen or anything. He is small and has to stay in the NICU for a while. The doctors tell us that he will stay there until his due date but we are hopeful that he will be home sooner than that.

A good book!

I just finished an awesome financial book called The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason. It was written in the 1920's so it has been around for a while, but I would recommend it to everyone. It has valuable information concerning finances, which is very helpful during this time of economic crisis. The main point of the book is to save a certain percentage from your income and this is done by controlling how money is spent in other areas. I went through what Jason and I spent on things on an average month and saw areas where they could be cut down. This book has really opened my eyes to the potential that saving can do for the future.

Our Baby Boy!!!

We are having a boy, due Decemeber 21st. We are very excited and can't wait to see him.

Summer Camping

We went up to Strawberry one evening while we were at the cabin to catch crawdads. Jason, Kregg, Danny, and Bryant caught about thirty and cooked them up.

For Memorial Weekend we went camping up Hobble Creek Canyon. It was the first camping trip of the year and it was freezing, but we had a lot of fun.

During the 24th of July it was Girl's Camp. It was awesome. We have such a wonderful ward with beautiful young women. I learned so much from each girl and was very lucky to be involved.

Jakob Milo Rogers

Jakob was born July 3, 2008. He is the first nephew for us and it has been really fun having him around. He is wearing the onesie Jason and I got for him which says "My favorite aunt and uncle," and there is a picture of us. I thought it was pretty funny.

Fall is in the air.

Finally it feels like fall. The rain has cooled everything off and the leaves are starting to change. Swiss days was this weekend, my favorite time of year but it was hot and kind of disappointing because they usually have really cute stuff, but there wasn't anything too exciting.

School Days

Jason started school two weeks ago. This is his third semester at LDSBC. He is currently taking three classes. His grade point average is a 4.0; he never thought he would be able to do this well in school. At LDSBC he is in the transfer program to BYU and is just studying generals.
