A yummy treat!!!

Jason discovered some new m&m's the other day. They are coconut and so good. I don't even like m&m's but they are so good. Everyone needs to try them. They taste like an Almond Joy but in a miniature size. MMMmmmmmm.

Six month checkup

Brigham weighs 16 pounds 3 ounces and is 26 inches long. He is in the 18th percentile in weight, 23rd percentile in height, and 37th percentile in his head circumference. He has a huge head. He is becoming a big boy. He has gained a lot of weight since his 3 pounds 10 ounces six months ago.

He got his shots, cried for about a minute and then he was fine. He is a tough boy.
Also, today I noticed he has a little tooth starting to come through on the bottom. That is probably the reason that he whines so much right now. It can be quite frustrating when he just sits and whines.

I probably need to start feeding him solids consistently every day, but I don't know the best way to go about this because he makes such a mess and I don't think very much ends up in his stomach. If any one has any ideas please help me out.

Another big accomplishment is that Brigham consistently sleeps through the night, it is awesome. He goes to bed at six and then wakes up at about 6:30 and plays and talks to himself for a while. He loves to scoot around his bed. The other day he was supposed to be taking a nap and started screaming and I went up and he was crammed into the corner on his stomach. It is really funny to watch him.

Brigham is starting to learn to sit up, he can do it for a few seconds if he leans forward and touches his toes. He is also rolling from his stomach to his back, although I don't think he likes to do that. He is trying to figure out how to roll from his back to his stomach but his arm usually gets in the way.

Brigham loves to put EVERYTHING in his mouth and he has just discovered that he likes to put his feet in his mouth, it is so funny.

Jason and I are so blessed to have such a healthy and happy baby.

Easter

Finally, it took me a little too long to get these pictures up. This is what the Easter bunny brought Brigham, which means us.

School

Winter semester is over for Jason and he got another 4.0. This was also the first semester that he had a full credit load, 12 credits. He is over half way done with his degree and has a cumulative 4.0 GPA. That is quite impressive. I am very proud of his hard work and determination.

The violin

Today Jason decided he wanted to learn to play the violin. So he came home from work with a violin that he bought. It was a little strange because I didn't think that he was that serious about it. He has been practicing all day and it sounds really good. He is very talented. Jason can do anything, he is my hero.

Schedule

Brigham is finally starting to get into a schedule. The past few days he has only woken up once in the night, it is usually at about 4. I feed him, change his diaper, and he goes back to sleep. Then he wakes up for the day around 7:30. I love it when he wakes up because he is so happy and loves to smile. He goes for a nap at 9 and wakes up an hour later, but sometimes he is still tired, I wish he would just take a two hour nap, but that doesn't seem likely. He takes another nap at 12 and sleeps for another hour and then the afternoon sometimes falls apart. He gets tired in the late afternoon but doesn't like to nap by himself, he insists I hold him if he sleeps. He goes to bed around 6:30. He is also eating like every two hours, I have tried to feed him more so that he will go longer in between feedings but it doesn't work. I am afraid to feed him rice cereal because of all the horror stories that I hear that it would make him constipated. I tried putting some in his bottle at night but that didn't work too well. We will just see what happens, the pediatrician said that some people rush giving their babies solids so he said it would be fine to wait, but who knows what will happen.
He is so much fun right now because he is just so happy and smiley. The only problem is that he doesn't know how to play by himself. He wants me to constantly entertain him. I put him down alone and he gets upset. I don't think he understands yet that toys can be fun. It is crazy how much he has grown, he almost five months but it seems like yesterday when he was born. I guess that is how all mothers feel.

Four Months

I don't know what happened to his hand in this picture, it totally looks like he doesn't have a hand, but I thought his face was really cute.

Brigham is four months old. He weighs 12 pounds 6 ounces and is about 24 inches long. He is in the 9th percentile for weight, 8th percentile for height, and 11th percentile for the size of his head. He is catching up. Right now he reaches and grabs for toys. He just barely starting to roll to his side.

Tummy Time

Brigham hates tummy time. Every time I put him on his tummy he cries the entire time. As you can see he must have been really tired because he passed out and slept on his tummy for an hour. I thought to myself, maybe he likes tummy time now, but that is not the case. I have since putten him on his tummy and he continues to cry. I am sure there will come a day when he likes to be on his tummy.

Sick

We tried to keep Brigham away so he wouldn't get sick, but he got sick anyway. Jason got me sick and then I got Brigham sick. It started with a sore throat because he was drooling for a few days, which he never does. Then he got really stuffed up and had a little cough. I was really scared because that is what the doctors at the hospital did to us. They made us scared about every little thing since he was a preemie. I took him to the doctor and he checked his lungs and ears and everything was fine. Brigham's pediatrician is a really great guy, he doesn't treat Brigham like a preemie. Brigham has a cold and his coughing is getting worse but I think the reason for that is because it is the end of the cold, and I have to suction his nose twice a day, he hates that. Although Brigham was born 7 weeks early, at this point I don't think any one would be able to tell. He is gaining weight and growing, and is doing almost all the things that babies do at his age. He is catching up quick, I thought it would take about a year or two, but he is a quick learner.

Brigham's Blessing

We blessed Brigham on February 1. It was a beautiful blessing and I am grateful that my husband can do that for our family. Brigham wore the same outfit that Jason wore when he was blessed. It was a good day and Brigham didn't get sick, our pediatrician still doesn't want Brigham to go to church, but we snuck him in.

2 Months

Brigham is two months old, wow time flies by. He went to the doctor and had his shots today. It was so sad because his eyes just filled up with tears. He weighed nine pounds and was twenty inches long. The doctor was really impressed that he had gained so much weight. Brigham is now on the growth charts, although he is at the very bottom. He loves his cougars and wanted to share that with everyone.

Christmas morning

This is what we woke up to on Christmas morning. We barely got out of our neighborhood.
The snow drifts were really bad.

The night before we got home pretty late and Jason shoveled, it was a good thing he did that because it would have taken all morning to shovel our driveway.

Christmas Eve

For Christmas Eve we went to Jason's grandma's house. We ate ham, funeral potatoes, and really good rolls. After we ate we opened presents. Brigham couldn't join in the fun because he is still too young and hasn't had his shots yet. We stayed upstairs while the party happened downstairs.

Brigham got a monkey from his great grandma, he was pretty tired.
